The Helle Berget Micarta Lock-Back Folding Knife brings Helle’s Scandinavian field-knife sensibility into a compact outdoor EDC format built for pocket carry. Its 2.17-inch 12C27 stainless-steel blade is short enough for precise control yet stout enough for carving, feather-stick preparation, food tasks, cordage, packaging, and the smaller cutting jobs that appear throughout an ordinary day outdoors.

A sturdy back lock holds the blade securely open, while the 0.106-inch blade thickness gives this small folding knife a more substantial feel than its dimensions suggest. Steward’s Insight

The Berget is a compact three-finger folding knife, not a full-sized carving knife disguised as a pocket model. That smaller grip increases portability and precision, but users with larger hands should expect the little finger to remain outside the handle. The sturdy blade and back lock make it unusually capable for its size, though controlled cutting remains more appropriate than prying, twisting, or striking.

For sharpening, place the broad Scandi bevel flat against a stone and work evenly until a light burr develops along the opposite side. Repeat the process from the other face, then finish with a leather strop to remove the burr and refine the edge.

Micarta requires relatively little maintenance, but grime can accumulate around the scale edges and pivot. Routine cleaning can be handled with a damp cloth and careful drying. For deeper maintenance, the screw-mounted scales may be removed, provided the hardware is kept organized and reinstalled without overtightening.
