The Experience
Conventional flashlights produce light. The Tractor Beam produces a white laser. Maximum throw beam distance! At the heart of the Fenix LR36R is a CT-1 Mini Laser Excited Phosphor (LEP) module — a laser diode that excites a phosphor element to produce a pure white beam with extraordinary optical collimation that reaches 4,134 feet. Nearly eight-tenths of a mile of illuminated reach from a handheld instrument that weighs just over a pound. When that reach isn't needed, twelve Luminus SST25 LEDs produce a 10,000-lumen wide-area floodlight for close-range property and field station illumination. Run them independently or simultaneously. A stepless rotary dial adjusts output without fixed modes. An OLED smart display shows brightness level, remaining runtime, and battery percentage in real time. Dual replaceable 5000mAh 21700 batteries provide up to 102 hours of runtime. USB-C charging. Power bank output. IP68 waterproofing. 1.5-meter drop resistance. And an intelligent proximity sensor that automatically reduces output when the head is within 2.4 inches of a surface — protecting the optics and batteries during close-range work. This is not a flashlight for illuminating a path. This is a field instrument for commanding the landscape.
Scientific Engineering
- LEP White Laser Technology: The CT-1 Mini Laser Excited Phosphor module uses a laser diode to excite a phosphor element, producing a pure white beam with exceptional optical collimation — a fundamentally different light source than conventional LED technology. LEP produces a tighter, more focused beam that maintains intensity over extreme distances where LED beams diffuse and lose effective output. LEP's superior beam collimation produces throw distances that LED technology fundamentally cannot match at equivalent power. The result is a beam distance of 4,134 feet — nearly eight-tenths of a mile — from a handheld instrument.
- ⚠️ Laser Safety — Class 3B: The white laser module is classified as Class 3B. Direct eye exposure to the laser beam or reflected beams from glass and shiny surfaces can cause eye injury. Never aim the laser beam at people, animals, or reflective surfaces at close range. Exercise appropriate field awareness during operation.
- 12x Luminus SST25 LED Floodlight: Twelve Luminus SST25 LEDs produce a wide-area floodlight reaching a maximum 10,000 lumens in combined mode — saturating the immediate field environment with even, high-intensity coverage for close-range property work, field station illumination, and campsite lighting where beam distance is less important than area coverage.
-
Five Independent Operating Modes:
- Floodlight Mode: LED array only — wide-area coverage, stepless output from 50 to 10,000 lumens
- Laser Mode: LEP white laser only — maximum long-range beam distance, stepless output
- Floodlight + Laser Mode: Both systems simultaneously — combined maximum output and reach
- Strobe: Emergency disorientation signaling
-
SOS: Emergency position signaling

- Stepless Rotary Dial + Electronic Switch: A precision rotary dial provides stepless brightness adjustment within each mode — no fixed output levels, no brightness compromise. The center electronic switch toggles between operating modes. The rotary dial also serves as the power lock when rotated to the off position.
- OLED Smart Display: An integrated OLED screen displays current brightness level, remaining runtime in the active mode, and remaining battery percentage in real time — giving the field professional complete situational awareness before committing to a position or operation.
- Dual Replaceable 5000mAh 21700 Batteries: Two included Fenix ARB-L21-5000 V2.0 21700 batteries provide a combined 10,000mAh of total capacity — supporting 102 hours of runtime at low output. Both batteries are removable and replaceable for field swapping when recharging isn't available.
- USB-C Recharge + Power Bank Output: Full recharge via USB-C in approximately 3.5-4 hours. The instrument also functions as a power bank, charging phones and field devices from the dual battery reserve via the USB-C port.
- Intelligent Proximity Downshift: An automatic sensor detects when the flashlight head is within approximately 2.4 inches of a surface for more than 1 second and automatically reduces output to the lowest floodlight level — protecting the LEP module and LED array from heat buildup during close-range or confined-space operation. This function can be disabled via the control interface when not needed.
- A6061-T6 Aluminum Construction: Precision machined aircraft-grade A6061-T6 aluminum with HAIII hard-anodized anti-abrasive finish — the same material specification found throughout the Fenix premium lineup, with a glass lens and stainless steel bezel for optical integrity.
- IP68 Waterproof & Dustproof: Submersible to 2 meters for 30 minutes — full protection against rain, submersion, and active outdoor use in demanding field conditions.
- 1.5-Meter Drop Resistance: Drop-tested from 1.5 meters onto hard surfaces without damage.
Boutique & Conservation Values
- LEP Technology — A Different Class of Beam: Conventional LED flashlights produce wide, diffuse beams that lose effective intensity beyond a few hundred feet. The Tractor Beam's LEP white laser maintains extraordinary beam collimation across 4,134 feet — enabling the serious estate steward or wildlife survey professional to identify terrain features, property boundaries, and wildlife at distances that LED technology simply cannot reach.
- Property-Scale Surveying: At nearly eight-tenths of a mile of effective beam reach, The Tractor Beam enables after-dark property surveys, boundary verification, and wildlife corridor scanning at the scale that large estate properties actually require — from a single position, without moving, without multiple instruments.
- Dual-System Versatility: The independent operation of LEP laser and LED floodlight means The Tractor Beam functions equally as a long-range survey instrument and a high-output area light — covering both distance and environment without carrying separate tools for each application.
- Fenix Limited Lifetime Warranty: Every Tractor Beam is backed by Fenix's Limited Lifetime Warranty — 15-day replacement for manufacturing defects, 5-year free repair for normal use issues, and lifetime limited warranty coverage beyond that.
